The Chabad House could host groups Kosher Mehadrin under the supervision of Rabbi Menachem Lazar.
Kosher Restaurants in Rome
The Beth Din (Rabbinical Court) of the Jewish Community of Rome led by Chief Rabbi Riccardo Shmuel Disegni certifies all the restaurants as not Mehadrin and not Glatt but all the restaurants use only Gvinat Israel, you could contact them for any inquiries regarding the Kashrut of the restaurants.
Little Tripoli is the only restaurant that is certified Glatt Kosher, you could ask them which Hashghacha they have on the meat.
These are the restaurants we recommend for Kashrut purposes:
- Little Tripoli (Meat restaurant, Glatt kosher, Bishul Israel according to Beit Yosef)
- Flour (Cholov Isroel bakery and restaurant, for coffee, Cholov Yisrael milk must be requested in single-serve cups)
- Mondo di Laura (Parve Cookie shop)
- Yotvata (Cholov Isroel restaurant)
- Marlen’s (Ice cream shop Chalav Israel)
- Casalino (Cholov Isroel restaurant)
- Baghetto Milky (Chalav Israel)
- Baghetto Bistrot (Chalav Israel, we recommend just pastries and coffee, not cooked items)
Also recommended:
- Dolce Kosher (Cholov Isroel restaurant, besides the milk that is added to the coffee)
- Kasher Roma 5778 (All Chalav Israel bakery)
All the restaurants we recommend have a frum person present at all times. The cooking is done using gas or electric stoves that remain on continuously and not by induction. They do not necessarily use tuna with a hashgacha temidit or that is Bishul Yisrael. The food is prepared as Bishul Yisrael according to the Rama. For those who follow Beit Yosef (Sefardim), this can be requested when ordering.
In all restaurants, including the recommended ones, vegetables are not checked by the mashgichim. Therefore, we do not recommend eating any vegetables that require checking, such as artichokes, broccoli, courgette flowers, leafy greens, and similar items.
We also can’t take responsibility for the ingredients used in each restaurant, if you want to be sure all ingredients used are mehadrin, you should ask the restaurant, if you doubt if a certain hechsher could be considered mehadrin, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
Most restaurants are closed between lunch and dinner.
The Shabbat meal caterings, also cater during the week with advanced notice, are also recommended.
Delivery service
Most kosher restaurants partner with delivery services such as Glovo, Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Moveedo, and Just Eat. Simply download the apps to place your order.
Kosher Products
In the Kosher stores in Rome you could find a variety of mostly dry Kosher products with different Hechsherim, not all are mehadrin, usually, there are no fresh dairy products like yogurts.
Kosher gelato Cholov Israel could be purchased at the Kosher Gelato shop. Ice cream without supervision may contain animal fat.
The bread and pastries sold in non-certified stores are usually not Kosher because most bakeries use lard.
There is no supervision on the milk sold in regular supermarkets, the production of the brand Latte Sano was once checked and approved by the Beis Din of Rome as Kosher Chalav Stam, the other milk companies could be pasteurizing in the same machinery whey which renders the milk not Kosher, additionally unsupervised milk could come from an animal that had surgery and is treif. All cheese requires supervision, even if you drink Chalav Akum.

Hi
Please can you confirm whether Bella Carne is certified kosher?
https://www.bellacarne.it/
Their address is: Via del Portico d’Ottavia, 51 00186, Roma
Sure, it’s just not certified Glatt.
Hi,
Do the Kosher Delight supermarkets only sell foods with kosher certification?
Thanks
They should be selling just certified products.
Thanks for this. There seems to be a bit of confusion on the internet if the BellaCarne and Baghetto serve Glatt on shobbos.
Would you be able to provide any guidance?
They carry also Glatt meat and don’t have a Mashghiach Temidi.
If I wanted to buy a cup of coffee, could I or all places only have milk? Which may not be cow’s milk. It does not have to be C Y.
Trying to find some ideas of what to do. I
Thanks
Phyllis
